Peter was a keen surf club member from the very moment he set foot into Geraldton. This picture was taken when he was about 24, and includes some of his oldest mates from that era including Hub Mainwaring, Bob Hopkins, Tom Brady, Peter Wall, Bob Abbot, Kenn Sheldon, Joe Boechetti, and John Miles.
He achieved top accolades in the club, as one of the top swimmers and champion iron man. It was the boats he loved best though and his stories tell of rowing from the club at front beach, through hells gates and around to back beach to train in the surf.
